FiveM Vehicle Callsign and Unit Numbers: One Per Car
To give every car of a FiveM fleet its own callsign or unit number, you cannot swap one texture, because GTA textures belong to the model. What works is to make each unit number a tuning option of the car: the number is a small decal, one option per unit, so each vehicle shows its own number and garages that save mods keep it. The FiveMRides Vehicle Studio builds that from one car.
- Tool: the Fleet generator in the FiveMRides Vehicle Studio. Price per fleet: free.
- Per vehicle: the unit number (roof, rear quarters, doors). Per model: department name, logo and stripe.
- Choosing a unit:
/unit 07, an export for your job or garage script, or any mod menu. New drivers can get the first free unit automatically. - Size: 50 units add about 2 MiB of number textures, not a texture per unit.

Why is a different number on every car hard in GTA?
A texture replacement in GTA is keyed by the texture dictionary and the texture name, so it applies to every car of that model on that client at once. There is no texture per vehicle. The options that do exist per vehicle are the mod slots, the livery index and the extras. The concept is explained in per vehicle vs per model; the short version for fleets is in this table.
| Method | Per vehicle? | Cost for 50 units | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unit numbers as tuning options | Yes, synced, saved by garages that keep mods | About 2 MiB of number textures plus small mod models | What the Fleet generator builds |
| One livery per unit | Yes | One full texture each, roughly 70 MB of video memory at 1024 px; the number of liveries a model accepts is commonly capped around 30 | Only for small fleets (12 units or fewer) |
| Runtime texture swap | No, every car of the model changes | Small | Cannot make a fleet |
| One spawn name per unit | Yes | 50 copies of the car model | Far too heavy |
FiveM vehicle callsign: a script or the car files?
A callsign script draws or changes a number while the game runs. The Fleet generator takes the other route: the numbers are part of the car files, so they show without a script. The optional /unit command and the exports only choose which unit a car shows. You can still pair it with a job or callsign script that calls setUnit.
Numbers for police, EMS and taxi fleets
The generator draws numbers; the cars come from your own pack. If you still need the vehicles, start with FiveM police cars, the FiveM police car pack or unmarked police cars, and the FiveM EMS pack for medical units. Light bars and sirens are a separate topic, covered in FiveM police lights.
How do I make a numbered fleet for FiveM?
- Open the Vehicle Studio. Upload one car and open the Fleet generator in the left rail.
- Set the units. A range such as 01 to 50, or a list like 01, 07, A-12 (up to 60 units).
- Choose where the number goes. Roof, rear quarters and doors. The tool finds a flat spot by measuring the car and shows it in the 3D preview.
- Add the design. Department name, logo and an optional stripe, applied to every unit. The stripe never covers the wheels or rims.
- Build and install. Download the resource and add it to your server. Pick a unit with
/unit 07or from your mod menu.

How do units work in game?
- Driver command:
/unit 07sets the unit of the car you drive. - Scripts: the resource exports
setUnitandgetUnit, so a job or garage script can assign units. - Automatic: a convar chooses the first free unit for a new driver, by plate, or off.
- Mod menus: each unit shows as a mod option named “Unit NN”, so menus that list mod slots can pick it.

The number options use tuning slots 43, 44 and 45 (doors and body). If your server already uses those slots on the same car, check them before you install. The slot used for liveries is left alone on purpose, because ESX and QB garages call the livery native with that same index.
What we saw in game
We saw a fleet built on a coupe (12 units, roof and rear quarters, a department name and a stripe) and on a sedan (50 units, the numbers on the roof, rear quarters and rear doors, a taxi name on the front doors). /unit changed the number on the car being driven. Each car stores its own unit, which is how the method works (a unit is a mod option of that vehicle); we have not yet confirmed several cars showing different numbers at the same time with a screenshot. The sedan’s rear quarter number is small because that body is curved there. Numbers on a carbon roof are fine, because they are decals, not paint. Other cars, big fleets on a busy server and GTA V Enhanced have not been tested.

Limits
- Department name, logo and stripe are the same on every unit (per model). The stripe is kept off the wheels and rims, including paint colored rims.
- Up to 60 units per fleet; a livery-based fleet is limited to 12 units.
- A renamed car keeps its kit name, so do not run the original car and the fleet copy together on one server.
- Use your own logo artwork; brand names and logos of real organisations are refused.
Fleet unit number questions
How do I put a different unit number on each FiveM car?
Make each unit number a tuning option of the car. The Fleet generator in the FiveMRides Vehicle Studio does this from one car: it builds one option per unit, and each vehicle keeps its own choice.
What does the Fleet generator cost?
Price per fleet: free, whatever the number of units up to the limit of 60.
Do the numbers stay after a garage save?
Garages that store the vehicle mods keep them, because the unit is a normal mod option. We have not tested every framework garage.
Can I show the unit as a roof number for helicopters?
Yes. The roof number is placed on the flattest part of the roof with its top toward the front, so it reads from above.
Can the unit be linked to a callsign or a plate?
The resource can assign the first free unit, assign by plate, or stay manual. A callsign system can call the setUnit export.
How do I add a callsign to a FiveM police car?
Make the callsign a unit number of the car: the Fleet generator builds one option per unit on the roof, rear quarters and doors, and you pick it with /unit or a script. A letter and number unit such as A-12 is allowed. The numbers show without a callsign script.
Does it work for police, taxi, delivery and EMS fleets?
The tool does not care about the role. The design is a department name, a logo, a stripe and the numbers, so any fleet with numbered cars fits.
Why not one livery per unit?
Each livery is a full texture of the whole car, so 50 liveries cost about 70 MB of video memory and models are capped on how many liveries they accept. Numbers as tuning options are far lighter.
