Will FiveM Work on GTA 6? What Server Owners Should Know
Not as far as anyone can confirm today. Rockstar and Cfx.re have not announced FiveM support for Grand Theft Auto VI, and the game launches on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, while FiveM is a PC framework built for GTA V. Until something official changes, your FiveM server, your players and your resources stay on GTA V.
- FiveM for GTA 6: not announced by Rockstar or Cfx.re.
- GTA VI release: November 19, 2026, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version or date has been announced.
- FiveM today: a modification framework for GTA V on PC. Its own FAQ says FiveM on consoles is not feasible.
- What to do: keep running and improving your GTA V server, and follow official channels instead of rumors.
What is confirmed (and what is not)
Here is the current status of the questions server owners ask most, with the source for each line. “Not announced” means we found no official statement either way, not that the answer is no forever.

Why FiveM cannot simply move to GTA 6
FiveM describes itself as “a modification framework for GTA V, allowing you to play multiplayer on customized dedicated servers” (fivem.net). It is written for one game: its executable, its file formats and its scripting functions. A different game does not inherit that work automatically. Even moving between two editions of the same game took a separate build: FiveM for GTA V Enhanced shipped as early access, and Cfx.re said server owners “will need to download our new Cfx Server binaries” to host it (Cfx.re).
Platform is the second obstacle. GTA VI is only announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. FiveM’s FAQ states that “FiveM on any game consoles is not feasible, since FiveM uses advanced interoperability mechanisms only available on the PC platform.” Until Rockstar announces a PC release, there is no PC copy of GTA VI for a framework like FiveM to run on.
The third point is permission. Access to FiveM is governed by Rockstar’s Creator Platform License Agreement, published at fivem.net/terms (the version we checked is marked “Last Updated: Sept. 10 2026”). It requires a valid copy of “one of Rockstar’s games that is authorized for use with the Creator Services”, which it calls a “Covered Game”. The agreement does not name GTA VI. Whether GTA VI ever becomes a covered game is Rockstar’s decision, and it has not been announced.
What Rockstar and Cfx.re have actually said
When Cfx.re joined Rockstar Games on August 11, 2023, the team wrote that “our partnership with Rockstar Games is focused on our FiveM and RedM platforms” and added: “So please, do not ask us about the next GTA!” (Cfx.re forum). Rockstar said it would work with Cfx.re to “find new ways to support this incredible community and improve the services they provide to their developers and players” (Game Developer).
Everything Cfx.re has shipped since then points at the games FiveM already supports:
- January 12, 2026: the Cfx Marketplace, described as “a curated digital storefront where talented FiveM/RedM creators can share and sell their work” (Cfx.re forum).
- July 21, 2026: FiveM for GTA V Enhanced in early access, which Cfx.re warns “will contain bugs and missing features” (Cfx.re forum).
Neither announcement mentions GTA VI. Rockstar’s own launch material describes GTA VI as featuring “a single-player experience” (pre-order release), with no details about community servers.
Take-Two has also narrowed the GTA V multiplayer scene. In 2026 the alt:V team announced a shutdown “at the request of Take-Two Interactive”, with servers expected to stop by July 6, 2026 (GTA Boom). The RAGE:MP team announced an end of support on August 31, 2026 after a cease-and-desist, saying Rockstar and Take-Two had made clear that “FiveM is the only authorized platform for GTAV multiplayer modding” (Dexerto). That tells you where GTA V roleplay is concentrated. It says nothing official about GTA VI.
What is still speculation
You will see confident articles and videos about “FiveM 2”, “SixM” or roleplay built into a future GTA VI online mode. As of this update, none of these come from an official announcement. Treat these as unknown:
- A FiveM version, or a successor platform, for GTA VI.
- A PC release date for GTA VI.
- Community or private servers in any GTA VI online mode.
- Whether GTA V scripts, maps, vehicles or player data could carry over.
Job listings, leaks and “insider” posts can be interesting, but they are not commitments. If Rockstar announces something, it will appear on the Rockstar Newswire and the Cfx.re forum first.
What FiveM server owners should do now
1. Keep building on GTA V
Your community, scripts, maps and vehicles run on GTA V, and nothing announced changes that. A GTA VI launch does not switch off your server.
2. Be honest with your community
Do not promise a “GTA 6 version” of your server, and do not take money for GTA 6 whitelists, slots or pre-orders. There is no announced platform to deliver them on. A short pinned post that says “no official FiveM for GTA 6 yet, we will update you if that changes” saves a lot of Discord questions.
3. Use the wait to fix performance
Whatever happens next, players will compare your server with a brand-new game. Heavy textures, oversized vehicles and slow resources are the usual causes of texture loss and stutter. Our FiveM server optimization guide covers the checks, and the FiveM texture optimizer can shrink supported vehicle texture files before you deploy them.
4. Test GTA V Enhanced separately
FiveM for GTA V Enhanced is the change that is actually happening now. It is early access, so try it on a test server first. Our guide to custom vehicles on FiveM Enhanced explains the vehicle side.
5. Re-read the license agreement
The rules for running a server live in the agreement at fivem.net/terms. Read the current version yourself, check it again when it is updated, and ask a qualified adviser if your server takes payments.
6. Back up and document your server
Keep current backups of resources and databases, and a list of what each resource is, where it came from and what license you hold for it. That inventory is useful for any future migration, whatever form it takes.
7. Treat “FiveM GTA 6” downloads as untrusted
No official FiveM build for GTA VI exists. Any file or launcher claiming to be one is not from an announced source, and you should not run it on your PC or server.
Where FiveMRides fits
Our vehicles and web tools are built for FiveM on GTA V. We do not know whether any of them will work with GTA VI, and we will not guess. If you are refreshing your server’s garage in the meantime, browse our FiveM cars, compare FiveM car packs for bigger lineups, or read the FiveM cars guide on addon versus replace vehicles. The optimizer, converter and other tools are collected in FiveMRides Studio.
Players asking about roleplay rather than the platform can read our companion page, GTA 6 RP: what we know about roleplay servers.
