GTA 6 RP: What We Know About Roleplay Servers

There are no GTA 6 RP servers yet, and none have been announced. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Rockstar describes it as featuring a single-player experience, and neither Rockstar nor Cfx.re has announced roleplay servers for it. What GTA RP means today

GTA RP is roleplay on community-run servers. Players create a character and stay in it: a police officer, a mechanic, a gang member, a taxi driver. Each server sets its own rules, jobs, economy, laws and vehicles, and staff moderate the story. That is different from GTA Online, where Rockstar runs the servers and the missions.

Those servers need software that lets communities host their own world with custom scripts. For GTA V on PC, that software is FiveM. For Red Dead Redemption 2 it is RedM. Both are run by Cfx.re, which joined Rockstar Games in 2023.

Can you play GTA 6 RP at launch?

Not in the sense RP players mean. Roleplay servers depend on communities hosting their own server with custom scripts and rules. For GTA VI, no such system has been announced, and Rockstar’s launch material only describes “a single-player experience” on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (Rockstar pre-order release).

Consoles are a hard limit for today’s RP tools. FiveM’s own FAQ says that “FiveM on any game consoles is not feasible, since FiveM uses advanced interoperability mechanisms only available on the PC platform” (fivem.net). With no PC version of GTA VI announced, there is nothing for a FiveM-style framework to run on.

Players can of course roleplay informally in any game. What will not exist on day one, based on everything announced, is a list of GTA 6 RP servers with whitelists, custom jobs and server rules.

Why people expect roleplay in GTA 6 anyway

The expectation is not coming from nowhere. Rockstar has moved closer to the roleplay scene in several public ways:

August 2023: Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, joined Rockstar Games. Rockstar said it wanted to “find new ways to support this incredible community” (Game Developer).
September 2025: Rockstar posted that it was “excited to support the nopixel team as they create the future of GTA RP”. NoPixel described its project as the next evolution of the GTA V roleplay experience, coming to the Rockstar Games Launcher and other PC platforms (Dexerto).
2026: the alt:V and RAGE:MP teams announced shutdowns at Take-Two’s request, citing FiveM as the only authorized platform for GTA V multiplayer modding (GTA Boom, Dexerto).

These are real signals that Rockstar cares about roleplay. None of them is an announcement about GTA VI. At the 2023 announcement, Cfx.re itself said its partnership is “focused on our FiveM and RedM platforms” and asked fans: “So please, do not ask us about the next GTA!” (Cfx.re forum). Headlines saying GTA 6 RP is “confirmed” usually rest on someone’s reading of a post’s wording, a job listing or a leak.

What is still unknown

When GTA VI will get an online mode, and what it will include.
Whether GTA VI will ever support community-run or private servers.
Whether FiveM, or a successor from Cfx.re, will support GTA VI.
When, or whether, GTA VI comes to PC.
Whether GTA V characters, servers, scripts or vehicles could transfer.
Which big roleplay communities, if any, will move to GTA VI.

If any of these change, the first official places to look are the Rockstar Newswire and the announcements section of the Cfx.re forum.

Where GTA roleplay happens right now

If you want to roleplay today, you play GTA V on PC through FiveM, using the server browser in the FiveM client or a community’s own invite. Cfx.re is still investing there: FiveM for GTA V Enhanced entered early access on July 21, 2026 (Cfx.re forum). Red Dead roleplay runs on RedM.

A few practical tips while you wait for GTA VI news:

Be skeptical of any server advertising itself as “GTA 6 RP” today. It is either a GTA V server with a catchy name or something you should avoid.
Never pay for a GTA 6 whitelist, character slot or early access spot. There is no announced platform for it.
Only download FiveM from fivem.net. There is no official FiveM build for GTA VI.
