FiveM Custom Interior: Seat Colour, Headrest Logo and Dash Screen

To change the interior color of a FiveM car, you recolour the seats, add a logo on the headrests and put a glowing image on the dash screen. The FiveMRides Vehicle Studio Custom interior finds the seats from the car’s own seat bones, recolours only those faces, and builds the result into the files. When a car shares one material for the whole cabin, it says so instead of painting everything.

By FiveMRides. Updated . Seen in game on FiveM test cars only (a few cars per add-on). Other cars, other servers and GTA V Enhanced have not been tested.

Quick answer
  • Tool: Custom interior in the FiveMRides Vehicle Studio. Price for the interior of a car: free.
  • Seat colour, two modes: a fixed dye you choose, or the native GTA interior colour that players pick in game.
  • Extras: steering wheel, carpet and stitching colour where the car allows it, a logo on the headrests, a glowing dash screen image.
  • Scope: detection depends on how the car was built. The tool shows what it found and refuses what it cannot do cleanly.

In game: only the seats are red, the door cards are untouched.

Why is a seat colour not a simple paint job?

Car paint in GTA is a shader colour set at runtime, but interiors are textures, and creators build them in two ways. Some cars use one atlas texture for seats, dash, doors and floor together, in the Rockstar style. Others use small tiled leather or alcantara textures shared by many parts. Recolouring the whole texture then paints the whole cabin. In a survey of nine cars, the seats could be separated cleanly on four, were usable with some spill onto nearby trim on three, and came out together with the floor on two.

The Vehicle Studio therefore splits the model per face: only the faces of the seat materials that lie inside the seat boxes, found from the seat_* bones, move to a recoloured copy. The rest of the cabin keeps its original material.

Stitching, steering wheel and carpet colours are offered when the car has them as separate materials. Headliners are not offered, because they almost always share the roof material.

Aftermarket racing seats and printed logos

Some cars have aftermarket racing seats with their own materials and printed logos. The Vehicle Studio recolors those seats while keeping the printed logos readable (logo protection), and the 3D preview shows the same result as the build. This was built for a sports car with racing seats and is being checked in game; the seat colour and headrest logo on other cars were confirmed earlier.

How do I change a FiveM car interior?

  1. Open the Vehicle Studio. Upload your car and open Custom interior in the left rail.
  2. Check the detected parts. The 3D preview tints the faces it will recolour. If a part is wrong or missing, use Pick part and click the surface.
  3. Choose the colours. Seat colour as a dye or as the GTA interior colour, then steering, carpet and stitching where offered.
  4. Add the logo and the screen. Upload artwork for the headrests (all front seats, rear seats when found) and an image for the dash screen, with a glow setting.
  5. Build and install. Download the resource, add it to your server and sit in the car to check.
  • Headrest logo: a decal pressed onto the flat pad of each headrest, found by ray casts. It is artwork only: in game it reads like embossing, but it has no real relief or stitching depth. In the survey the front headrests were found on all nine cars.
  • Dash screen: an emissive panel centred on the car’s own flat display, with your image and a glow strength. It can be always lit or lit with the headlights. Of nine cars, five had a place the tool could use, and four were refused honestly.

Use your own artwork. Names and logos of real brands are refused by the same filter as the Add tool.

What we saw in game

We saw and confirmed two builds in game. On a sports coupe only the seats turned red and the door cards were untouched. On a 4 seat SUV the seats turned cognac and an FMR logo showed on the front and the rear headrests, where it reads like embossing (it is a flat decal, not a real relief). Shared materials can still spill onto nearby trim on some cars, which is why the tool shows what it detected and offers a click selection. The glowing dash screen was not in our shots, so it is still being checked. Other cars, servers and GTA V Enhanced have not been tested.

Limits

  • When one material covers seats and trim, recolouring can spill; use Pick part to remove the wrong faces.
  • Seat colour is per model in dye mode. In GTA interior colour mode each car can show a different colour.
  • Colours and a logo or screen together need two passes through the car files; a few cars (one test car showed a collision box shift) are limited to colours only, and the tool says so.
  • The glow of the screen at night needs tuning per car.

Custom interior questions

Short answer for the usual search: to change a car interior color in GTA 5 or FiveM, use the native interior color (0 to 160) on cars built for it, or recolor only the seats with a dye in the Vehicle Studio when the car shares one material.

How do I change the interior color of a car in GTA 5 or FiveM?

Cars that support it follow the native interior color, a number from 0 to 160 that a tuning shop or the SetVehicleInteriorColour native sets. For other cars, the Vehicle Studio recolors the seat faces with a dye. See the table above for when to use which.

How do I change the seat colour of a FiveM car?

Open Custom interior in the FiveMRides Vehicle Studio, check the tinted seats in the preview, pick a dye colour or the GTA interior colour, and build. Only the seat faces are recoloured, so the dashboard and doors keep their look.

What does Custom interior cost?

Price for the interior of one car: free, including the colours, the headrest logo and the dash screen.

Can players change the seat colour in game?

Yes, in GTA interior colour mode: the seats follow the native interior colour, which a tuning shop, a mod menu or the native can change.

Why did my dashboard change colour too?

Some cars use one material for several parts. Use Pick part to remove the faces that should not change, or choose the GTA interior colour mode.

Will my seat logos get painted over?

On aftermarket racing seats the tool keeps printed logos readable while it recolors the seat material (logo protection), and the preview matches the build. This is being checked in game.

Can I put a logo on the headrests?

Yes. The logo is a decal on each headrest pad the tool finds. It is artwork only, without stitching relief.

Can the dash screen show my own image and glow at night?

Yes, on cars where the tool finds a flat display. It is an emissive panel with your image, always on or with the headlights. Cars without a usable display are refused with a message.

Can I change the steering wheel or the carpet?

Where the car has them as separate materials. In our survey the steering wheel was separable on two of nine cars and the carpet partly on four.
