Can AI turn a photo into a FiveM ped?

Yes. The FiveMRides AI Ped Creator is a browser tool that turns one to four pictures of a character, or a text description, into a FiveM add-on ped. An AI model builds the 3D character, the tool fits it to the GTA freemode skeleton, and you download a resource folder to stream on your server. It is in beta.

Updated November 2026. Tested in game on GTA V Legacy. GTA V Enhanced has not been tested.

Quick answer

  • Input: 1 to 4 pictures (front, back, left, right) or a text description.
  • Time: about 4 minutes for the AI step, under a minute to fit and package.
  • Textures: 4K, or 8K with five textures of up to 4096 (each under the 16 MiB per texture limit).
  • Output: a ZIP with fxmanifest.lua, peds.meta and a stream folder with 4 levels of detail, plus a 3D preview.
  • Tested: FiveM on GTA V Legacy. Not tested: GTA V Enhanced.
  • Limits: no facial animation, loose clothing can clip, the AI guesses what the pictures do not show.
What you get

  • A streamable add-on ped resource: fxmanifest.lua, peds.meta, the ped model files and textures in a stream folder, and a README with the spawn command.
  • A 3D preview you can rotate, with test motions: idle, walk, run, wave, dance and squat.
  • Up to four views of the character (front, back, left, right), or a text description instead of pictures.
  • A male or female body, a normal, heavy or very heavy build, and a height setting (up to 6 percent shorter or taller, because the ped keeps the GTA skeleton that every animation uses).
  • 4K or 8K textures. 8K gives the head, body, arms, legs and feet their own texture of up to 4096 pixels, so each one stays under the 16 MiB per texture limit.
  • Free re-edits of a ped you own, and a My peds list that keeps earlier versions.
  • A ped costs 25 credits with 4K textures or 40 credits with 8K textures. Studio Unlimited includes 1 free ped per week and Studio Max 2 free peds per month, then credits; Studio Pro and members without a plan pay credits. You are charged only when your ped is finished, a build that fails is not charged and does not use a free ped, and re-editing a ped you own is free.

How do I make a custom ped for FiveM from a picture?

  1. Add your character. Upload one to four pictures (front, back, left, right) of a character you have the right to use, or type a description for a text-to-ped build.
  2. Choose the body. Pick male or female, a normal, heavy or very heavy build, the height and 4K or 8K textures, and give the ped a spawn name.
  3. Generate and check the preview. The AI builds the 3D character and the tool fits it to the GTA freemode skeleton. Rotate the 3D preview and play the test motions to check it.
  4. Download the resource. When the ped is finished you are charged and the ZIP is ready. It holds fxmanifest.lua, peds.meta, the stream folder and a README.txt.
  5. Install and test. Put the folder in your server’s resources folder, add the ensure line, restart, and spawn the ped with SetPlayerModel on a staging server.

Under the hood the AI model produces one textured 3D mesh. We scale it to the freemode body, copy the skin weights from the nearest part of the body, replace the AI hands of a human character with our own hands built on the GTA finger bones, make the level-of-detail models and the textures, and package everything as a resource. Nothing from the GTA game files is sent to your browser: the preview shows only your character.

An add-on ped, not a replacement ped

An add-on ped is a character model that has its own spawn name and sits next to the standard peds, instead of replacing one. A replacement ped overwrites an existing model and needs no meta file. A freemode ped is one of the two multiplayer character models (male and female) that FiveM character creators and clothing packs customise; an add-on ped is a separate model that does not use those face and clothing options. The AI Ped Creator makes add-on peds only. The add-on vs replacement vs EUP guide compares the three.

Add-on ped Replacement ped Freemode clothing
What it is A separate model with its own spawn name An existing ped model overwritten with new files Clothes and props for the two standard freemode characters
Needs a peds.meta Yes, registered with PED_METADATA_FILE No No
Freemode face and clothing options Do not apply Depend on the model it replaces Yes, this is what they customise
Made by the AI Ped Creator Yes No No

Tips for a good picture

  • Use a full-body picture of one character, with the feet in the frame.
  • Stand the character straight with the arms a little away from the body. Crossed arms and hands in pockets hide parts the AI then has to guess.
  • Plain background and even light. Strong shadows and coloured light get painted into the texture.
  • Add the back view when you have it. The side views help with thick clothing and big hair.
  • More tips are in the picture tips guide.

How do I put myself in GTA 5?

Putting yourself in GTA 5 means either making a picture in a GTA style (an image, not playable) or building a playable character model; the second needs a modded or FiveM setup. The AI Ped Creator is the second kind: it builds a playable add-on ped for a FiveM server from pictures you have the right to use. Use only your own likeness or that of someone who agreed.

What the AI Ped Creator cannot do

  • No facial animation. The face stays still.
  • GTA V Enhanced has not been tested. Our in-game test was on a FiveM Legacy test server, so do not count on Enhanced.
  • Very loose clothing, capes, long coats and big hoods can clip through the body in some motions.
  • The AI guesses what the picture does not show, such as the back of a jacket, so the result can differ from what you had in mind. Hands are the hardest part, so for a human character the tool replaces them with its own hands on the GTA finger bones: they take the colour of the skin or gloves in your picture, but small hand details such as rings are not copied.
  • The ped is a fitted add-on model. It is not the standard freemode character, so the freemode face and clothing options do not apply to it.
  • It is a FiveM resource. We have not tested it for single player GTA V.
  • We cannot test every server setup, framework or ped menu. Test the resource on a staging server first.

AI Ped Creator questions

What is the FiveMRides AI Ped Creator?

A browser tool that turns one to four pictures of a character, or a text description, into a FiveM add-on ped. An AI model builds a textured 3D character, we fit it to the GTA freemode skeleton, and you download a resource folder you can stream on your server. The tool is in beta.

Can AI turn a photo into a FiveM ped?

Yes. An AI model builds a textured 3D character from your picture, and the tool fits it to the GTA freemode skeleton and packages it as an add-on ped resource. The result differs from the photo where the photo does not show the character, and the tool is in beta.

How many pictures do I need?

One clear full-body picture is enough to start. Up to four views (front, back, left, right) give the AI less to guess, so the back and sides of the character usually come out closer to what you want. You can also type a description instead of uploading a picture.

What do I get when the ped is finished?

A ZIP with an fxmanifest.lua, a peds.meta, the ped model files and textures in a stream folder, and a README with the spawn command. You also get a 3D preview you can rotate and play test motions on, and a thumbnail.

How much does it cost?

A ped costs 25 credits with 4K textures or 40 credits with 8K textures. Studio Unlimited includes 1 free ped per week and Studio Max 2 free peds per month, then credits; Studio Pro and members without a plan pay credits. You are charged only when your ped is finished, a build that fails is not charged and does not use a free ped, and re-editing a ped you own is free.

Can I make a female ped or a heavy build?

Yes. You choose a male or female body and a normal, heavy or very heavy build, and you can change the height by up to 6 percent, because the ped keeps the GTA skeleton that every animation uses. The AI character is fitted to the body you choose. The female body is ready in the tool, but our own in-game test was a male character, and we have not checked the very heavy build in game yet, so check a female or very heavy ped in the preview and on a staging server.

Does the ped have facial animation?

No. The ped moves with the body skeleton (walk, run and the other body motions), but there is no facial animation or lip sync, so the face stays still.

What does the AI get wrong?

The AI has to guess whatever the picture does not show, such as the back of a jacket or the inside of a hood. Very loose clothing, capes and long coats can clip through the body in some motions. For a human character the tool replaces the AI hands with its own hands, so small hand details from the picture, such as rings, are not copied. Extra views and a plain pose reduce these problems, but they do not remove them.

Will it work on my server?

It is an add-on ped resource with a peds.meta, which is the standard way FiveM streams a custom ped. We tested a ped made with the tool on our own FiveM Legacy test server: it spawned, walked, ran and sprinted, aimed a rifle and a pistol in third and first person, and drove a car with both hands on the steering wheel. We have not checked GTA Enhanced yet, so do not count on it there. We cannot test every server setup, framework or ped menu, so test the resource on a staging server first. The install guide covers the folder, the manifest and the spawn command.

Does a FiveM custom ped work in GTA V Enhanced?

We have not checked GTA Enhanced, so do not count on it. Our in-game test was on a FiveM Legacy test server, and we will say so here when an Enhanced test passes.

Can I use a custom ped in single player GTA V?

The tool makes a FiveM resource (fxmanifest.lua and peds.meta). We have not tested it for single player mods, so we do not offer it for that.

Do guns and steering wheels work with the ped?

Yes, in our own in-game test. The ped has its own hands, built on the GTA finger bones, so the fingers wrap a pistol or a rifle and the steering wheel instead of staying stiff. The head is a separate component, so it is hidden in first person and you do not see the inside of your own head. The resource also has four levels of detail for distance.

Can I change the ped after it is finished?

Yes. Re-editing a ped you own is free, for example a new height, body or build. A re-edit reuses the model that was already generated, and the earlier versions stay in your My peds list.

Can I use a picture of a real person or a copyrighted character?

Use characters and artwork you made or have the right to use. A real person’s likeness and another company’s characters can cause legal trouble on a public server, and that risk is yours.

Can I make a ped that looks like me?

Yes, from pictures of yourself. Use only your own likeness or that of someone who agreed. The ped is a fitted 3D model built from your pictures, with no facial animation, so it will not be an exact copy of you.

Does it make add-on peds or replacement peds?

Add-on peds only. An add-on ped has its own spawn name and is registered with a peds.meta, so it sits next to the standard peds. A replacement ped overwrites an existing model, and the tool does not make those.

How is this different from a clothing pack (EUP) or a character creator?

A freemode ped is one of the two multiplayer character models (male and female) that FiveM character creators and clothing packs customise; an add-on ped is a separate model that does not use those face and clothing options.

Can I make an animal or creature ped?

The tool is made for humanoid characters on the GTA freemode skeleton. We have not checked creature shapes in game, so do not expect animal peds.

Do I need to install software?

No. The tool runs in your browser. You only install the downloaded resource on your FiveM server.
